Watching the events of recent years unfold has felt, to me, like witnessing a slow-motion train wreck. Since publishing Our Culture on the Couch – 7 Steps to Global Healing in 2009, I’ve seen the very patterns it warned about accelerating: the rise of polarization, the shift from cooperation to confrontation, from love and sharing to fear and force.
We are living through what I call a tyranny of uncertainty. The constant barrage of crises, contradictions, and chaos has left many of us fearful, angry, and spiritually exhausted, and asking, “Why doesn’t someone do something?” We’re experiencing a kind of learned helplessness — a direct byproduct of our “disinformation age.”
But someone can do something — and that someone is you, and me, and us together.
For more than 40 years, I’ve dedicated my work to developing the inner tools that allow us to break free from fear and reclaim our power — mind-tools designed to heal individuals and, through them, the culture we share. For much of that time, it felt like I was one of the few pointing out that the emperor had no clothes. But now, thankfully, the veil has lifted for many. People are waking up in droves. The moment is ripe.
We can restore sanity and compassion to our culture — not by waiting, but by choosing to engage. By finding inner peace and aligning our inner power with truth, peace, and vision. We have the numbers. We have the heart. All that’s needed now is attention, intention, and wise, steady guidance.

Internal physical and emotional turmoil punctuate our daily lives in America right now. You can feel it in the political headlines, in conversations with friends, even in your own wildly beating heart. An APA study confirms it: Stress about our nation’s future is nearly universal in the U.S. and exists on both sides of the political aisle.” We are losing sleep, losing relationships, losing hope submerged in this national and cultural malady.
Stress is a kind of infection, to be sure, but what if it is also a call? A call to rise, to remember, to reclaim a deeper power that has always lived within us.
Most people suffering the mental and physical effects of increasing stress try to numb it, fight it, or run from it. But there is a wiser, more deeply satisfying choice available to those who are awake and ready. I invite you to take an unexpected path with me–a journey not away from the stress, but into the heart of it—where a hidden gift is waiting to be discovered.
This challenge is not about merely surviving the storm, it’s about becoming someone who can harness the power of the winds.

How We Will Harness Stress as Fuel for Change
Remember, always, stress is not something that happens to you—stress is what you do with what happens to you. Shakespeare said it long ago: “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.”
Stress is your limbic system—the ancient “monkey mind”—reacting instinctively to imagined immediate life-or-death threats. Stress distracts, and confuses you, and blocks you from reacting wisely to news and information you receive.
The Hidden Path to Transforming the System
You’ve heard it said and seen it written: “You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem.” But few truly realize what it takes to become part of the solution. In times of high stress, fear can rob you of rest, sap your strength, and shut down the very part of your mind capable of forging new paths—the prefrontal cortex, the seat of your creative genius. It literally shuts down your higher mind!
The path transcending this primitive response leads to a wiser, more ancient part of you that knows how to move through chaos with clarity, courage, and vision.
This isn’t about just coping; it’s about engaging and transforming.
I believe we are standing at the threshold of a greater story—that you were born to live, one in which you find the depth of spirit and commitment that take you beyond the superficial discomforts of stress, to a beautiful new world. Step through and answer the call hidden inside the stress itself.

We Are Approaching a Tipping Point
A tipping point is a moment, a threshold, at which a small shift can rapidly transform a system, often irreversibly, often from stability to instability or vice-versa. Once the threshold is crossed, the shift can become self-perpetuating and difficult to reverse, for better or for worse. A tipping point can be a dangerous time, but also an opportunity for positive change.
Right now, we stand at a tipping point, not just as individuals, but as a culture, a species, a living web of souls. And these turbulent, shocking, and uncertain days represent more than a crisis–they are an invitation that we must not let go to waste. Now is the moment to act wisely. And you do have a choice in how you face the moment. We all do.
We can shrink into fear, or rise into our power; we can fracture, or unify; we can collapse—or awaken.
When the Tipping Point becomes a Turning Point
This moment in time, this political and cultural crisis, need not be the end of us—our country, our culture, our ideals. This moment can be a threshold to a new future. Right now, we can choose to harness the raw energy of stress and invest it in the future we prefer.
It can be done, and the wisdom within you knows how. Please allow me to show you.
